The only thing I suggest you avoid writing is teen angst. Esstentially, this is YOUR major work, so whatever your idea may be, just make sure you can sustain it for the 600-800 words.

About that teen angst thing.

Our teacher said not to do it.

The Extension Two Seminar Speakers said not to do it.

Countless BoredofStudies.org forum members said not to do it.

The head teacher of English said not to do it.

And blow me down, out of a class of 13 people, 3 people choose teen angst. That's nearly a quarter of the whole goddamn class. I actually asked one girl, Megan (a friend of mine) about her story.

She was going about her main character, so I interjected and said 'Does she die from a broken heart?'

'YES! How'd you get that?'
