UNSW is generally said to offer a better social life aspect compared to USyd. However, there are two important elements to keep in mind when considering the social life aspect of a university:
  1. Every university hosts numerous clubs and societies, which are usually a significant part of its social life. USyd and UNSW are no exceptions, especially given that they are both large universities with diverse groups of students. Such clubs/societies can be related to particular fields of study or focus more on general entertainment and other non-study purposes, thus appealing to different students. In this respect, both USyd and UNSW provide information about their social life aspect on their websites, and it would be a good idea to have a look at both as that can help you determine whether one university is more promising than the other.
  2. The fact that a university emphasises its social life aspect is not enough for a student to truly experience its social life. For a student to make the most of the social life that a university offers, they should actively seek information about clubs/societies and become involved in those that may appeal to them. Many university students not only enjoy experiencing their university's social life in this way, but also end up making friends thanks to similarities and common interests that can be found within such clubs/societies.
I hope this helps! :D

fr though there’s not really much difference, the social life is what u make of it if you sit in the corner and don’t talk to anyone it’ll suck and if you go out and make friends with everyone it’ll be great. and also stuff like how close u are to uni has a much bigger impact (shorter commute = more able to come in for/stay for social stuff)
