hey can any of you guys give me a hand with me assesment??? any help is appreciated.

sudents are asked to choose one major scene from the movie strictly ballroom. indicate clearly which scene you have chosen. students must write a speech, this speech will be from the point of view of the director as he gives his instructions to his team of set designers, actors, editors, camera men, music director, sound crew and all workers involved in a productions. you must outline the purpose of each scene, describe :
what camera shots he wants to use how he would like them edited together
what music will be used
how he wants the sound mixed (music, voice, stage movements)
what costumes
what the set will look like
how he would like the actors to move and act

the assessment isnt to bad but im no sure which scene to use...

ok...i just had this really lengthy post that was about to be posted until my browser froze all ova sudden...
as i saying, you'd might like to find out some of the ideas of what other people are doin (if you can..-___-'') just incase on that day, you find yourself doing the same scenes as to what half of the grades doin..
you can have a go at the scene where Scott and Fran dance infront of the Coca cola sign

talk about:
- the contrast between the clothes line, with simple, plain, unfancy clothing to the shimmering coke sign (-ve connotations of commercialism, corruption of mankind...you can refer that to the ballroom world)
-scott and fran where plain simple clothing unlike the people that dance on the ballroom dance floor
scott and fran both wear black which, in strictly ballroom represents the good whilst white represents the bad (eg..ken)
-the song time after time, representing fran and scott's relationship, scott currently being blinded by the artificiality of the ballroom world whilst fran is trying to help him from his current state (there was something else about the song but i've forgotten now)
-high angle shot of the building and its surroundings, spacious, peaceful (in a way) in comparison to ballroom world where it always looks crowded
-set out in the exteriors (closer to nature, etc) unlike every scene of superficial dancing is set in either the dance studio or the ballroom itself.

I had alot to blabber on about but now i've forgot. maybe nextime. good luck and enjoy your assessment task, because this would probably be the most interesting one you'll find in the entire english course. Cheers.

P.S try grabbing a copy of the strictly ballroom DVD because its got a director's commentary thingo that might just be useful for your particular speech

the assesment has changed to " Students must choose 1 mojor scene. students must write an interview between a movie critic and the director. the interview will explore how the image of 1 character is construsted in that scene. things to discuss include what camera shots were used, how were they edited together, what music was used, how was the sound, what costumes, sets, how the actors had to move and act, etc.

this one is due on the wednesday the 1/904 so not until week 7 but im trying to get it done before the trials.
