then u cant do ESL cos its only for ppl in Aus for less than 5 yrs

give advanced a shot. if you can cope then it's all good; only drop to standard if you REALLY REALLY struggle

though they usually advise for people to do standard if they haven't been in australia for long. however, there are exceptions if say you came form an english speaking country.

the only difference between advanced and standard is that in advanced, you are expected to be highly analytical, and of course the prescence of shakespeare.

Hmmm. My teachers recommended that I either do ESL or Advanced, because practically no one gets band 6 in Standard. And I didn't come from an English speaking country. From a scaling point of view I'd still say stick with Advanced, only do Standard if you absolutely have to.
