King's speech was seen to be inflammatory as his audience extended beyond the pro-civil rights fighters... people who watched on tv etc who were racist in their ideals saw King as a trouble maker. In other words, there was a lot of racial tension in American society at the time - King's comments just fuelled the tension.

McAleese was the PM/President of Ireland - she is saying that there has to be restrictions on the way people use their freedom of speech. The fundamentalist Protestants (Orange men) were marching through places where Catholic people lived - trying to incite violence. McAleese was seen to be biased by the Protestants as she herself is Irish Catholic and using freedom of speech to express her opinion...
