Would there be any issue if for my IP, I performed a speech as my monologue?

I have found a really wonderful and fascinating speech by a New York senator in reference to same sex marriage, and the arguments are priceless, plus it's really interesting so it's not particularly boring either. And I can understand a definite journey and development, not only of the character but also of the speech itself. And I obviously wouldn't perform this as someone reciting a speech. I'm just worried that it will be "rejected" due to the original form of the piece.

The original source form you take it from is fine. You just have to make sure you have a character and a sustained journey.
