I do 12 units rn and I am thinking about dropping Japanese continuers for numerous reasons:

- I am bad at the subject (ranked almost last in my class)
- I do a lot of other content heavy/difficult subjects (ext 2 math, chem, eco, eng adv)
- My next assessment is in two weeks and I don't think I could improve my marks by then, but if I decide to keep the subject I would definitely dedicate a significant portion of my holidays doing purely Japanese
- I absolutely despise the listening and speaking portion of the subject lol

I'm not choosing between Japanese or another subject to drop since I love all my other subjects (although I am lowkey not performing as good as I want to be in math ext 2), so it's either drop Japanese to sit on 10 units or keep 12 units through to the HSC exams. How many units is better? Does Japanese continuers scale well, even if my performance is not amazing? Also, I heard people mentioning you get extra atar points for doing Japanese, is that actually true?

sounds like a yes
12 units isn’t better than 10 if you’re struggling w the 2 extra units

and no you don’t get extra atar for doing japanese continuers or any subject😃
