Should I change Standard English to Extension 1? (1 Viewer)

Just to do Ext 2 in Yr 12? I don't really plan on putting in an effort in Advanced/Extension 1, I just want to do English Extension 2 and do a major work. Is it a good idea to not put any effort into Advanced/Ext 1. Will you still be able to do a good major work? I want to do a short story or a crazy video. Can a video be about anything; it doesn't even have to make sense? Can you make an animated video on some ghosts invading the moon or some crap like that?? It can be about 6 to 7 minutes?

I'm not a big fan of English, but I know EE2 is not like other Englishes.

I am in Year 10, btw.

To do Ext 2, you teacher has to say you can do it. If you don't get good marks I doubt they will let you.

At least 2u of english needs to be counted towards your atar. It sounds sort of silly to do 4u english in your case, no offence.

I was in your position too last year. I knew I was going to do advanced, and I wanted to do extension two, but extension one is a requisite. But by all means give it a go, but you should try in ALL four units of english.

But to get to 4U English (Ext 2) You must be getting good enough marks for your teacher to let you.

Advance = 2 Units
Ext 1 = 1 Unit
Ext 2 = 1Unit

It will be Units of Advance, one unit of ext 1, and one unit of ext 2 which equals 4 Units.

Okay, fine, I will "try" in the other 3 units, that is not the issue. I will try in the Advanced Paper 1. That is about 45 marks. What I want to know is if your major work can be about anything - if you want to an animated film, it doesn't have to be anything related to like English stuff, like Shakespeare or anything. Just trying to get info.

If you cannot gather an answer from what I have given you (An Extract from the syllabus) you will fail in English 4U

One teacher at my school was explaining Society and Culture to us; and she said all you learn about is different cultures of different countries, that's only a part of it. What about all those concepts tha you learn? One of the teachers at my school said that scaling doesn't exist anymore, that it is an very old process from like 15 years ago, everyone know that's not true. I have gathered more info from this site that I ever will at school.

It is very unlikely your teacher will let you make a video.

At my school most people write novels and publish them etc.

Actually, I go to a good school; probably one of the best schools academically aside from the selectives. But yeah, teachers lie a lot. But yeah, my science head teacher said scaling is a myth; she said doing subjects for scaling is stupid. Like if you do Ext 2 math, and you get 45 in it, then that is what you get; there's no scaling up. It brings your ATAR down.
