Primarily talking English, but history also falls into this category.

After taking English trial exam, I found I suck at the short answer questions. A week later I took another practice test and just passed the short answer section.

What can I do to improve?

I already know to fill up all the lines of a question and if a question is worth 5 marks, make 5 points...but what else can I keep in mind?

thanks

Who told you to fill up all the lines?
Repitition and pleonasm is not the way to go.
Markers can quite easily point out if you've repeated one point several times.
Look up standard packages and understand the desired style of writing.
hmm
o and use words 'sophisticated' and complex terms
for eg. in geo while writing about urban planning i'd make it a point to use "gentrification", "urban sprawl" etc..
if you get what i mean...
