setting up dvd player (1 Viewer)

ok guys im no good at tech stuff, so could i get some help setting up my dvd player?

its an LG DV9723P, you know the generic one heaps of people get

i have a sony trinitron tv

dont have the instructions, so do i just plug in the video and audio cables and thats it? ive tried something like that but it doesnt work. do i have to tune the player like you do a vcr, or do i just try the channel i usually use for video?

you put the yellow plug in the yellow hole, the red plug in the red hole and the white plug in the white hole...LOL its not that hard...the channel should be av1/2/3/4 or whatever depending on where you are plugging it in..

you do not need to tune anything...

but you must make sure youa re connecting ports on the dvd player labelled output to ports on the TV labelled input...

umm theres no colour coding on my tv though
there are just four ports

well the ports should be at least labeled

but the yellow one into Video In
and the red and white into the two Audio Ins

ok ive done that
btw i should mention i have a vcr connected to the tv, ie a cable from antenna to vcr, then vcr to tv
the dvd plays, but theres no picture on my av channel
