Defying Gravity - From the broadway show Wicked - sung by Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenowith.

Its when Elphaba decides to part with her sister Glinda in the prequel to The Wizard of Oz and a sequel in some ways - all combined - showing the perspectives of the witches.

Pretty sad song.

you guys heard --> Phil Collins - In the air tonightt

what makes it sadder is its based on a true story

Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am
Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

The Last Emperor feat. Estheo & Poetic - One life

Saddest song ever, contains a verse from Poetic (of Gravediggaz) after he has been diagnosed with terminal liver/colon cancer and has been given 3 months to live.
This is some real ill spiritual type hiphop

-edit: reminds me too, Gravediggaz - 1800-Suicide one of the most beautiful/sad songs I have ever heard.

Everyone seems to agree songs based on true stories are really emotional so I gotta include Bruce Springsteen - American Skin (41 Shots).

And then there's also

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
KISS - Beth
Guns N Roses - November Rain
Bon Jovi - Bed of Roses
silverchair - Miss you love
Pearl Jam - Last Kiss
John Denver - Annie's Song

etc.
