Since Kevin controls everything he got you screwed with the collapse of the Aussie dollar.

He didnt cause it, He inherited the debt from Lil Johnny and because China is at a standstill and stock piling resources, our trade links have been severed.

Correct if i'm wrong but everyone who works will only get the tax break payments assuming they are independent from their parents (live away from home etc)?

Tax payers in context ill assume, they need really to give more detail when stating these things.

No.

Getting paid for your part-time job doesn't depend on whether you live with your parents or not.

I paid tax last year but was in a casual job - I think I paid about $200 or so tax but didn't bother getting it back - I now work full time (have since November) and I doubt I get anything ? :(
Failing to file a tax return is against the law, and no that doesn't mean it counts.

I am working full time now but didn't pay any tax last year so I don't get shit. I would spent $950 more appropriately than all the bogans who are probably just going to put it into the pokies.

$950 for Uni students? for all or just those on Youth Allowance? I work and I don't get anything, I hope it's slip under my bank account. :spzz:
Rejoice now, but remember, every dollar given out to low and middle income earners today will have to be paid back later. Paid back by high-income earners through tax; with interest.

And mark my words, it will be a Coalition government, which will cop the blame for making tough decisions when this country is in billions of dollars of deficit.

Quite simply, it's becoming apparent what Kevin Rudd meant, when he called himself a 'socialist democrat'. He really should have said 'socialist' because this is quite obviously wealth redistribution.

Absolutely pathetic.

Which the majority of Australians support in various forms. What do you think Medicare and Centrelink and graduated income tax are? Honestly, you sound like one of those grossly out of touch Republicans in America.

You don't like cash handouts? Fine, wail about them all you want. Keep your stupid misleading catch phrases out of it though.

With $950 I can afford to make 40 aboriginals homicidally drunk.

Two questions:

1) Can I get two payments, one for earning under 80k and the other for being a student on Youth Allowance?

2) I dont get Youth Allowance but am elligible. If I sign up tomorrow for Youth Allowance will I get this payment?

Not getting my hopes up. I don't expect to qualify for it, although it would be nice

I think it's a great idea to hopefully stimulate the economy a little bit and encourage people to spend more. What nobody seems to realize, is that the less they spend, the worse the downturn will eventually be! Consumer confidence needs to be boosted and this is a good way to hopefully encourage that.

However, what I don't seem to understand, is where is all of this extra money coming from??
We are apparently in an economic crisis, and yet the government appears to be plucking billions of dollars from the sky with all of their new plans and visions.

It's all great news, and definately a nessecary measure if they want to reduce the impact of the recession; although I am just curious as to where all of this extra capital is coming from
