I'm very interested in medicine, with an ATAR aim of 97 on the horizons, however today I got my half yearly report and the results were as follows:

*English (Advanced): 49/~60

Maths (2U): 23/~80
(~60% done)

Biology: 8/~60
(~40% done)

PDHPE: 1/~30
(~40% done)

Chemistry: 2/~60
(~40% done)

*English was absolutely shocking.. However only inclusive of a 15% worth Half yearly assessment which clearly I got destroyed in (12/30).
Other English assessments not counted:
15% - 13/15
20% 15/20

Sorry about all the approximates, I was told to include how much of the internal subject we had done...

Realistically, my English mark will go up but i'm not sure by how much... Can anyone predict how badly this can impact my overall HSC mark if my ranking were (worst case scenario) to stay the same for English - what potential does this have in bringing down my mark?

I god the same problem where I achieved well my in other exams, but got 40/50 for english.

Yes, it can impact you alot, have you tried it on the Atar calculator, getting band 6 for otheres can save you alot.

These all my other ranks:

Chem: 7/16 (which I know I can improve to top 3. 30% left)
Biology: 14/46 ( 65% left)
SOR 1U: 20/46 ( could imprve to top 3 35% left)
Maths 2u: 6/15 ( could imporve I have 60% left)
Maths ext 1: ( could easily imporve to ranked 2 70% left)

Does anyone think I if get all these assignments left with full marks, could I get 99+ Atar, I am also interested in medicine.

Looking at around 87-89 atar with current ranks. As said improving English will help immensely, and also trying abit harder for maths wouldn't hurt to bring your atar up if you're showing unproductive returns for English.

It depends on the person, for some it is 80, for some it is 99.95.

You really need to work on English AND 2U and then some Biology too.

Right now, I'd say around 90 but that can go up to ~95. I don't really see you getting 97+, to be perfectly blunt but you can always prove me wrong.

That's a little disheartening, but i'm going to love proving you wrong.

I'd work on maths and english.

At the moment I'd say you're sitting on a 84-87, if you get top 15 for english and top 10 for maths a 93+ if definitely possible.

All of these estimates are quite lower than what I expected... What's the most realistic way I can get my 97?
