... and then tell me whether or not I'm insane!

I did it in 40mins. It's the 2005 CSSA Trial. I've also written this - creative piece on BOS notes - for those feeling like a comparison.

I'd give it 15/15 of course. What about you guys? :p

Replied to your thread. Sorry if I was too harsh. :(

Haven't got it marked yet. Sent it to my teacher last night. I'll let you know. Thanks for the positive comments though. :p

It's interesting, I do like it... but for the actual task, I'm not quite sure.

I cannot actually see the journey though, because the character didn't develop, it wasn't physical... so maybe I missed it?

I'll give it 10/10 for being interesting and unique though :D :)
Well, the character's journey was to find "nothing" and write a story about it. He realised that you can't write about nothing - there's always got to be a point (eg, oil vs. whaling). The reader then realises the "point" he found was that the journey is "nothing". It's really a big stab at post-modern writing. :p

I did inner journeys though, and my journey was more of the mind than of the feet.

The attachment story -
What relation does it have to anything? I mean, its a nice idea - some nihilistic notion of nothingness - trying to pull off a stoppard? story+poem+script? And insert randomly names of Wilde, Satre etc...

What's the journey? And are you satirising THE Journey? I'm not sure the markers would appreciate that.

Or maybe I just didn't get it...

A modernist old woman from Ravenswood wouldn't appreciate it. But thank God for double marking!

9 times out of 10 my AOS essays have the thread "the journey is useless" and I get a 14-15/15. I'm not going to stop putting crap on the journey. It's getting me marks.

And I think you've missed the point. Go read some post-modern EE2 majors or pick up a socialist magazine and then read my little piece again. It's more a satire of post-modern literature than the journey. Read my last post to see what it has to do with the journey.

Rang up the HSC Advice line... :p

The bloke said it was pretty much fine to satirise the journey, as long as through the satire you're making intelligent comments on the concept/nature of the journey - which is pretty much what I assumed he'd say, but I just wanted some clarification. The dot point criteria thingo says to "express an understanding of the journey in the context of your studies", and the bloke said that if you're doing that through satire, you're fine.

I really should just trust my teacher! He didn't tell me anything new! Oh well, my cynical ways will never be stopped.

nwatts I'd be very interested to see how you write other text types such as Journal Entries for example...Do you agree with me that they wouldn't give the same potential to display english skills?

I can tell lol....
its such an awesome play!!

are you a hitchhikers fan also?
I quite enjoyed reading the first two of the Hitchhicker's books, but the last few weren't great. I like Adams' style, but he wouldn't be an influence.

I do agree they limit potential. And I agree that they suck indefinitely. I'd probably burst into tears if come Monday morning I'm presented with a diary entry thingo or similar.

I wouldn't have much of a problem writing a script/screenplay, although I can't imagine they'd ask for one. I've got a few brilliant ideas for a short play, very Stoppard/Beckett-styled, that'd do nicely. It'd be limiting to those very well suited to prose, but I'd be ok.

Hrmm...
