I think you could probably do with a bit less than previously suggested, though it is always better to aim higher

It's still higher than what I had thought previously but what is the HSC without hard work? Thank you for the reply!

Bumping this post from a while ago. Things aren't going very well and I am almost losing all hope to get into my desired course. With these subjects, what ranks would you need for a 96~97 ATAR? School rank is still 4th.

English Adv. : /168
English Ext.1 : /96
English Ext.2 : /33
Maths Adv. : /157
Maths Ext.1 : /133
Chemistry : /91
Chinese Heritage : /6

Many thanks.

What re you current ranks; you could be getting above 99+ Atar hopefully if your ranked top 20 in all your subjects.

Nope. Sydney Girls. North Sydney ranked 3rd last year. My current ranks are shameful

How about I tell you the marks you will need to get these ATARS. Its then up to you to research how many people on average at your school get these marks each year. The marks I give (based on the 2011 HSC) all scaled to the same mark (the mark which students never see), resulting in the desired ATAR. Of course, if you don't reach the standard in one subject, you can still get the required ATAR by doing better than this standard in another subject. Unfortunately I have no info on Chinese Heritage.

ATAR 98
English Adv 92
English X1 92
English X2 92
Maths Adv 93
Maths X1 89
Chemistry 91

ATAR 95
English Adv 88
English X1 89
English X2 87
Maths Adv 90
Maths X1 83
Chemistry 87

Thank you for the reply. These marks seem to be quite low compared to what I had expected.
Chinese Heritage only started last year so it is only normal that there isn't very much information on it at all.
Will do research. Thanks again!
