basically it is trying to get you to talk about mitosis , the answer in the success one book says:

Genes assist in the maintenance of health by enabling exact functioning copies of cells to be made via mitosis. This is essential for growth and repair. The function of genes is to ensure that correct proteins are produced in a cell to enable all cellular processes to continue

Genes are needed for:
Immune system : Protect against diisease
Mitosis : Growth and repair
Enzymes + Proteins : Body's metabolism
In regulating cell cycles and control cell differentiation
The structure of the organism: So they can function properly (instead of looking retarded)
