Question about conics (1 Viewer)

If you have a normal hyperbola with centre (0,0), the focus on the x-axis will be (+-ae,0). But when it transverses, will the focus become (0,+-be). Please give ur opion about this statement.

I'll take the meaning of 'transverse' as 'interchange x and y', i.e. reflect in the line y = x.

In that case the foci are (0, -ae) and (0, ae).

so in that case will b become a? or is a the bigger number?
