qualitative is weather it is there or not, a yes or no answer basicaly
quantitave is a mesurement

i was talking about the statement
"there is MORE rust on one nail than the other"

qualitative would be "there is rust on each nail"
quantitative would have their weights

qualitative analysis does not state an amount

i still reckon is qualatative cause u only observing with out measuring. cause for example observing, u see one piece of shit. u turn around and u saw 2 piece of shit. of course u know that 2 piece of shit is more than one...

lol prob not that good an example.

saying there is more deposit on this nail than this nail... and using that as ur result would not constitute a quantitative experiment. it needs actual numbers, numerical data.

the very use of the term 'more' indicates relativity (not physics) and it doesn't provide absolute 'proof' that their rates of corrosion do differ :D

yeh, my first statement was an "observation"
not qualitative or quantitative analysis

The weighing method seems to be the only method for quantitative analysis in a school lab. As with many of the experiments we do it is not completely valid, but as long as we are aware of that it'll be fine.
