I'm going for Union College
My friend who studys Software Engineering at UQ lives in Union College... his room is a shoebox. Although those double rooms are pretty nice. I'm not planning to live on campus but coming from a regional town he says its a great way to make friends (he says that basically the only people he knows in his course are from his college.) A lot of students live in a college the first year, and then move into a house or apartment with friends they've made in their college...

Oh anyway onto my preferences (I'm not applying to UAC, only QTAC.)

1. UQ Bachelor of Architecture 92
2. QUT Bachelor of Architecture 88
3. GU BA (Asian and International Studies)/ Bachelor of Communication 85
4. GU Bachelor of Animation 85 (+portfolio)
5. GU Bachelor of Digital Design 80
6. UQ Bachelor of Multimedia Design 60

Ok those are my preferences as they are, although realistically I know I'm going to get my first preference (or 2nd if I somehow stuffup my HSC.) I'm hoping to get a scholarship as well :)

Did you go to the chemical engineering lecture at Newcastle open day? Because that really put me off engineering at Newcastle. Its UNSW for me now but I have no idea what my preferences are yet. I'll probably decide at the last minute.
Hmm, really? I quite liked it.
Did you go to the first or the repeat lecture?

^ that's what I applied for just now. Of course I may change my mind a few times before it's all over with, and I'm also going to apply to unis in Victoria. But yay :)

Edit: Should I switch around prefs 1 and 2? I'm not yet exactly sure which one I'd do if I managed to score well enough to get accepted into both.

UNSW is in the one place I want to avoid if at all possible.
Newcastle used to be a mining town, so the facilities at UNCLE for mining and chemical engineering are supposed to be better than UNSW.
its not just a matter of proximity to a mine...

UNSW = better reputation = attracts better lecturers

+ it has got more resources than UNEWCASTLE

Btw, if you want to do mining engineering, be prepared to spend ur life in the middle of nowhere =)

I went to the first one. The start was alright, but when we went down to the labs I soon lost interest because the guy was just showing us computers and stuff like that.

I think my first choice will be B Science/B Engineering @ USyd.

UNSW certainly has its weaknesses, and USyd its strengths, but generalisations are inappropriate, not to mention wrong (such as in this case).

For what Dumsum is interested in (nano, engineering & maths), UNSW is far superior, far superior, and equal.
Bar maths, usyd is better for science. The UNSW dean said that.

Put my Preferences in Yesterday:

1. Bachelor of Science in Nanotechnology UTS
2. Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry UTS
3. Bachelor of Science in Nanotechnology Innovation UTS
4. Bachelor of Science (Advanced) USYD
5. Bachelor of Nanotechnology (Advanced) UOW
6. Bachelor of Science (Nanotechnology)

If I get a really high UAI ill probably put Bachelor of Science (Advanced) first instead

My Target UAI is >90 which is more than enough to get into the 1st preference

Oh, hey, I went to the first one too. You must have gone with the other guy, we didn't get to see the computers. He showed us some of the equipment and explained what it was used for and how it worked.

You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into Sydney. I can't stand the place.
It's dirty, there are too many people, it's expensive and it's way too noisy.
Actually, the only thing I like about it is the conservatorium, and I'm not doing music, so it doesn't count.

Fair enough, im not going to bother arguing, because i have no definate source of this information. So you would recommed unsw advance science over usyd advanced science? What are you doing now?

Yeah the castle is awesome! i would do music solely based on the coolness of the castle.

As for my prefs -

1. Bachelor of Dental Surgery- Uni of Adelaide

2. THE END

Nah maybe pharmacy at Charles Sturt or biomedical science or physio at Newy. Hmm really should get round to making that list...now where's that bloody book...oh that's right, i don't have one. Ahh the joys of apply-by-web! :p
