Which is an excellent book. I enjoyed far more than 'Lord of the Rings' which was a waste of not only my time, but also the paper in which it was printed on.

The 'His Dark Materials' series is also a pleasurable experience, despite being somewhat cliché at times.

Magician was good (especially the first part), but Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon were just pulp. So was Serpentwar and Conclave of Shadows. The first two books in the Midkemia trilogy were also good, but the third one sucked, too.

The Wheel of Time is also good and hopefully once it's done I'll get my hands on Infinity of Heaven.
ermmm ignore argonaut, silverthorn i agree wasnt too good, but darkness at sethanon was really enjoyable and the serpentwar is one of his best,.

also read the mistress of the empire series of his - very good

Iorek the bear didn't have a gun. Perhaps you're thinking of his Texas aeronaut friend, Lee Scorseby?

They're going to make a film! Of course it won't be as good as the books, but still worth watching.

Not much info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385752/
