Hi. I just received my final results and I got one 84 and one 74 (1 mark short of a HD and D respectivley) and this gives me a way lower GPA (if I had those two extra marks I'd get 0.5 extra GPA).

I was wondering if there was any way of getting those marks or can you calculate the GPA using your WAM instead?

I know this is really paranoid and I am certain that you cannot but I'm just wondering.. thanks

No you can't. Your GPA and WAM are separate and different things. If you have a WAM of 75, you can't then convert that to a GPA of 6:).

If you're desperate, you can appeal to your lecturer in charge to see if he can bump up your marks..although this is pretty unlikely

You use this scale. A marks between:

0 - 49 = 0
50 - 64 = 4
65 - 74 = 5
75 - 84 = 6
85 - 100 = 7

So, just say your marks were 60, 70, 80 and 90, then your GPA would be (4 + 5 + 6 + 7) / 4 = 5.50 = Credit Average:).

Does this works for a combination of 3UoC and 6UoC subjects?

if u are doing 2 3uoc subjects, u could use the average of the 2 and use it as a 6uoc subject :)

what about four 3UoC subjects? with marks like 74 74 76 76... I could make a GPA of 6 or 5.5.. depending how I group them...

with 3UoC subjects, take the mark, say 75, then divide it by 2 (37.5), and halve the UoC weight, ie take it as half as a subject

why dont people just get the idea of:

(mark x CP value) + .... + (mark x CP value) / total CP?

it would save them the confusion of worrying if the CP for any subject might be different? taking it as a half subject, etc. would just get confusing!
