what the hell "is" a paradigm?????????

i hate this course and the crappy software names and shit.. for christ sake i know php and c to a certain extent, and with vb anything can be done... and yet i haev to know wtf a paradigm is............................................... (shakes his head)

A "paradigm" is a general model or pattern that is followed.

All the languages you mentioned, php, C, and VB fall under the "imperative paradigm". That is, they all have a simple start to finish structure, with very little deviation in the program flow.

Jus to make it more clearer,

A "paradigm" is a general approach/method to programming or the solution to a problem using a programming language.
Programming languages that share common characteristics are put together into the same paradigm.

And u get the many different paradigms(Imparative programming...etc)

consisting of many different programming languages(Fortran,ada,c,pascal,modular2,basic.....etc)

its a thought pattern :)

like a way of thinking about things. (if u do physics) the particle theory of light was a new paradigm from the wave theory thingy. ha ha
