hi again!

compare the properties of the gaseous forms of oxygen and the oxygen free radica;

okay in this dotpint t wrote about ozone, oxygen and oxygen free raidcal and how O is most reactive, ozine is unstable due to resonance hybrid and more reactive than oxygen

but compare - what similarities

can ne one tell what they wrote

Similarities:
o Chemical similarity - both are oxygen molecule
o Physical similarity - both are gases at room temperature

Well, you should be aware of the ozone cycle.

UV breaks down (disproportionates) zone to diatomic oxygen and oxygen radical.
Oxygen radicals rapidly seek other oxygen radicals to form diatomic oxygen.

Ie oxygen radicals are very reactive, but exist.
Because of the resonance the bond strengths in ozone are equal and weaker than diatomic oxygen.

Otherwise~

- they are all radicals (O2 is a diradical ~ burn baby burn).
- Ozone and diatomic oxygen are blue (ozone moreso).
- Relative abundance?
- Toxicity - Ozone is bad for us mere mortals. Oxygen radicals wouldn't be too healthy either.
- O2 is 8 times more soluble in water (by weight).
- Ozone is denser by weight, but roughly same density by amount (gas laws anybody?).
- O2: BP;-183 MP;-219 Ozone: BP;-111 MP;-193
- Ozone has an electric dipole moment, oxygen doesn't
- Both oxidants with a oxidation state of 0 for all oxygen atoms.
- Ozone has the repulsion of one L.P. on the central oxygen and is a bent molecule (1060). Diatomic oxygen is linear for obvious reasons.
