The scaling of extension 2 and 1 determines whether or not I make it in. I'm on a loose thread already. Fucking 2024 English scaled like shit compared to every other year, making me lose 10 out of 500 scaled marks for no reason. The reason being fucking retard dropkicks in the 2024 English cohort. I doubt extension 1 will be affected

But also, I think some people who choose ext 2 may be passionate about maths rather than just doing it for the 'scaling', more so they just love maths, regardless if they get a 'low' mark. Some food for thought.

I doubt extension 1 will be affected if I do E4. If you aren't aware, 10 scaled marks represents an increase in atar by 1-2 points at around the 85 range

~48/100 for ext 2

I'm on the edge because of chemistry and English where the scaled mark (not HSC or raw mark) for English is confirmed to be 39/100 (even though it should've been 45, just fucktarded people ruined the scaling), and Chemistry where my scaled mark will be around 55/100, so if ext 1 and 2 scale unusually low like how it did in 2024, it could be detrimental. Well at least I get at least 1 point from EAS. I need a scaled mark of atleast 340/500 to get 85 atar

pretty sure the vast majority in English can't even score 30/70. This is the exact reason scaling is cooked for English, UAC sees that people who do good in English can't do good in any other subject, hence scale the subject horrifically, effecting everyone.

its aight, there's no point doing all of this when you're not even 100% sure. js wait for december 18th, you should only stress when you get your results, there's literally no point stressing now because you cannot change anything. you stress when you get ur results because you have a chance of being wrong and making the wrong predictions, or otherwise... have a really serious moment of "oh fuck"

No I'm fucking mad everyone in my English class couldn't do fucking basic arithmetic. There's this one they/them who's so proud of scoring a band 3 in math advanced. Fucking UAC scales her band 3 in fucking basic 2u mathematics better than my band 4 in English advanced. She gets every benefits and doesn't lose anything, meanwhile I get a lower atar cause of that. MAndatory English and shit scaling English.

A person like me who band 5 physics and band 6 math advanced should in theory improved the scaling of ENglish. Yet there were just too many fucking losers in my year, so I didn't even get a scaling benefit

if you're able to be at the top of your school, being much better and getting better results then people who get these marks, then why should you worry or even complain about everyone else? looking at the graph you also sent, it will mainly affect you if you also performed just as bad. i dont see the reason why you should complain about everyone else dragging down your atar, if you will only be affected if you perform just as similar

My English mark is represented by the red line. What I'm saying is, UAC scaled English horrifically due to a shit dropkick cohort, compared to previous years.

It's also not fair that these drop kicks are allowed to fail math advanced (band 3) and get a fucking 50/100 scaled mark, meanwhile I get a 39/100 for a band 4 in a subject I was forced to take?

These same drop kicks who fail math advanced contribute to the horrific scaling of English, as often times, they get band 5s and 6s in English. They literally aren't smart enough to do anything else besides bs and English.

Math advanced is fucking piss easy. How the fuck are you failing it? If you don't get a band 6 in math advanced, you might want to reflect on your own intelligence, and the fact you might be left of the bell curve.

Here's a simplified version of UAC subject scaling relationship:

The scaling of English is dependent on cohort performance in other subjects, such as maths. Conversely, The scaling of other subjects, such as maths, is dependent on cohort performance in English.

There are enough intelligent people in math advanced, who also do good in English, that boost the scaling of math advanced.
Conversely, there are just way too many dumb fucks who are good at English, but horrific at maths advanced.

well, let's take the same argument. for someone like that who's very strong at english but fails maths, they could also ask you the same thing. to them, English is also piss easy, then how are you failing it? if they can get a band 5 in english and still fail in maths, then why can you, someone who does well in maths not get a band 6 in english?

they're different courses.

you can also argue it's because your forced to do english which you're not as strong at, and they had the option to do maths. because english is a mandatory course which EVERYONE does, which also heavily depicts ur atar because its able to be a measurement of everybody else in the state, you shouldn't be relying on your other courses to bring up your english mark...

i'm not saying you're entirely in the wrong, or whether there is a right or a wrong. i'm saying, you shouldn't be needing to judge everybody else and blame everyone else for something you could have fully controlled yourself. had you spent more time diligently preparing and studying, you would've been able to get better marks, and be less affected by such restrictions

I did, but the graph doesn't continue below 80. advanced and standard scale the exact same, even UAC said themselves.

this leads me to another point, most people who get above 80 in English advanced can't even band 3 2u maths. btw a band 3 is just a 30% raw

this also is just not true. you're comparing your school to the whole state, which i can assure you has differing opinions.
i mean, i should be getting around 87 in english advanced, with a raw of 67/70 in extension 1 maths, and 85/100 in extension 2 maths.

none of this would affect you, had you simply done better. there is no need to go on an outrage and complain about everyone else when it was something fully in your control.

UAC unfairly gives them a scaled mark of 50/100 even though they got a fucking 20% on the math exam.
