I have a question.

Let's say I want to get into the world of options/stock trading, one would presume I would need a Commerce degree, yes? Would a generic commerce degree do in landing those kinds of jobs or will I need to major in finance?

If employers are looking for certain courses you've taken (do they actually do this?) what sort of courses should I be taking to become an options/stock trader? Will doing some fins electives be enough? How about just intro econometrics, would that be enough?

Thanks guys.

Will you be employed by a firm if you don't have a finance major?

Yes as long as the other major is related to trading. I.e. Engineering or Maths. Buy fridays financial review and look at the trading jobs and what they ask for.

I'de say when applyin for any job.....experience counts for around 90% and your degree and grades....around 10%. With trading, you should start investing now and prove that you know how to invest and use the skills you learn in finance to enhance your portfolio. Employers favour initiatve and practical experience over a HD average!!
