I need to know about the ideas surrounding residential colleges - i was considering going to perhaps Wesley or Women's in 2011 but...

1. I heard they're snobby and looked down on by other USyd students.
2. I heard theres quite a lot of social hierarchy/initiations/shit going on. That would be a problem for me - I'm a public school... and a bit of an AlternaKid... perhaps that's really not where I should be at.

So yeah, untrue as perceptions? Or is that the way it is with the USyd colleges?

1) i live at college and have never been looked down on at university. there are some with chips on their shoulder but they are few and far between.

2) There is a lot of crazy shit that goes on, but being a public school or 'alternakid' won't make you any different from anyone else. everyone cops a bit but it is still amazing and you won't regret a second.

i would definitely recommend living at college, the only thing i will say is that if you are worried about the hazing, then womens is more tame than wesley
