I have my AT2 Business Studies coming up, and one of the things needed for it is a single sided A4 paper that contains information on a case study. The limitation is that i can't include theory from the case study but only facts so any idea of what should be included.

Depending on the topic that your assessment task will target, you should focus on including relevant information that would increase the usefulness of the paper that will contain this information. In such a case, data from the case study (if applicable) would be the main element to be included. Such data includes any figures (for instance, percentages) describing a particular aspect of the case study. Subsequently, you can combine your knowledge of the content and the overall case study with the specific data that you choose to include in the paper.

I believe that Pethmin's suggestion is a valid one. Their suggestion is essentially to formulate the information in a way that enables you to establish particular patterns that would not require including theory from the case study, but would, despite this, allow you to recall the relevant theory that the data/information is linked to. For example, consider corporate social responsibility from the Operations topic, specifically environmental sustainability. If the business that the case study discusses is said to have engaged in an activity that contributes to the environment, and this statement is supported by a particular figure/percentage, you can include that value in your paper and write a keyword next to it, such as "environmental contributions", which would allow you to remember the relevance of that specific figure to the case study and by extension, the topic/content being assessed.

I hope this helps! :D

Here's my case study
Kathmandu

  • 40% of production is on apparel and 60% is on equipment.
  • Recycled 9.3 million bottles into gear.
  • Opened a 100% solar powered store in Victoria.
  • Since 2019, 99% of new products are made from sustainable cotton.
  • Has 101 suppliers globally, 76 in China, 12 in Vietnam and 3 in Indonesia
  • 99 suppliers (76% in China)
  • 8.5 years is the average tenure working with suppliers.
  • 12 audits (including 2 unannounced). Due to COVID-19 this number was less than usual.
  • 62 corrective action suppliers for suppliers
  • 5 per cent turnover of suppliers.
  • 100% of Kathmandu's new suppliers are screened using social criteria, resulting in an average tenure of suppliers of 8.5 years and only 5 per cent turnover.
  • Recently Kathmandu's stock drop by 7.6% per store
  • Their Supplier Quality Excellence program has a first-time pass rate of 38%
  • In Kathmandu's recent 40 audits only 10 of them were non-compliant with its code of conduct
  • Their quality return rates from 2016 (0.34%) has decreased by 0.19% by 2020.
  • Have done 3357 repairs and had only 1 reported safety incident.

iPhone

  • Foxconn is China's largest exporter and one of the nation's biggest employers, with over one million employees.
  • Half of Foxconn's revenue come from Apple.
  • In 2012 Apple fell from top position as the highest selling smartphone maker, superseded by Samsung.
  • In 2018 Apple's market share fell to third after Samsung and Chinese manufacturer, Huawei.
  • In 2013 the production of iPhone 5 was discontinued due to quality issues
  • In 2014, in preparation of the development of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus; Foxconn had employed an additional 100000 factory staff to ensure they could meet production targets for the launch of these models.
  • In 2012, Apple received negative media attention due to the quality issues in the production of the iPhone 5

You should first choose the information that you believe is most valuable (i.e. most likely to be beneficial to your response) and include it on the paper, unless you can fit all of this information on a single-sided paper, in which case you would not have to worry about this. You can do so by further summarising each point. For example, the fact that 100% of Kathmandu's new suppliers are screened using social criteria can be expressed as follows:

100% new suppliers screened using social criteria → supplier tenure x̄ = 8.5 yrs + only 5% turnover.

Here, the x̄ symbol replaces the word "average".

Another thing to consider is that if you include information relevant to each business under a heading, you do not need to mention the name of the business for each fact because you would already know that a fact is relevant to a certain business, allowing you to save additional space.

Lastly, you should try to make your notes as comprehensive as possible. This means that you should ensure that they cover as much from the Operations topic as possible. In such a case, it would be a good idea not to limit the case study information to one aspect of operations. Instead, try to cover the role, influences, processes and strategies.
