Journey to the interior:

form: monologue, person speaking about reflections "I", free verse:no pattern in poem.

theme: Actions and motivations of self, knowing the 'self' is a mystery.

ideas about inner journeys:
-Inner journeys create confusion
-Contrasting view on the worth of inner journeys, negative view, serves as a warning
-No ending, no arrival
-possible to delve too deep, to forget yourself.
-Can use physical journeys to explore and understand ourselves
-Pessimistic view of life

Quotes/Techniques:
-"danger" word choice
-symbolism, "an alternate light and dark"
-"There are differences"- we get caught up
-"Walking in circles again?"- doesnt know the answer to the simplest of questions, off to the side because its an additional thought- rhetorical question
-"pointless" "vacant wilderness" - empty images, sense of futility
-"keep my head" - irony
-"as calling in a vacant wilderness" - assonance, simile suggests that the mind becomes vacant
"Im sure i passed yesterday" - confusion, is lost

-each physical feature can be used to explore or as a metaphor for an inner journey reflection
-uses negative words, negative feel, connotation of words "spindly" "rough" "poor"
-present tense, happening now, suggesting it never ends
-imagery "net of air" can be caught up by things we cant see eg. fear emotions, panic, air metaphor for abstract things
