If you don't know them... then you should learn to recognise them

sentence structure
- short/long/word order

use of punctuation
-80 word sentences with lots of commas and semi-colons,

onomatopoeia
metaphors
similes

descriptive language
"Manfred's calcuating father"

imagry

rhyme

etc. state the argument ie... mr. bum uses language techniques such as baldhaldklfjdlsfkj to demonstrate/portray/convey/affirm adlkjfdslkfdl;kfsdj;l, as shown in the phrase "the cat sat on a hat". the use of the words "cat" "hat" "mat" with its awesome "language technique" evokes *a cool reaction* in readers. Thus relating to the awesome argument above.
