Mystery Faulty CD/CD-RW drives (1 Viewer)

My CD drive and burner stopped workin.

they dont seem to realise there are discs in them. the computer thinks they r workin properly. then my burner gives me a message saying i have unplugged it unsafely.

What operating system are you running? What CD drive and burner do you have?

so you have TWO cd drives?
- Burner
- CD drive

hmmm maybe check that IDE cable, if you know what that is, has came loose?
have you played with any settings recently, installed anything new?

am running windows 2000, my computer is older (bout 4 yrs), i have a 52x creative CD, and a sony 8x4x32 burner. they were working fine before

yes i have a 4 yr old 52x Creative CD and a Sony 8x4x32 burner. i have not installed any new software or played with settings. checked d cables already. just wondein wat has happened.

Try check each drive separately (remove one drive at a time). Try use a different IDE cable altogether.
