for 8 i got b instead of a.
when you do -log 10 0.0005 you get 3.3....

5 is D.. teacher confirmed it.

and 13 is B

(i think teacher confirmed that too)

and 15 the teacher says is D
I PUT A THO grr

he reckons that the buffer maintains the pH but once you've used up all the buffer it drops the pH.
but hrm. according to the diagram it says the pH droped at 50mL but the soltuion was 100mL.. maybe he forgot to read that part.
so in other words, It's a? :D :D all agreed?
haha

i think i got 13 out of 15 aghh.. alright i suppose

8 is a, because it says assume the acid is completely ionised- ie it gives both its H's , meaning there are double the conc. .: -log10 of 0.001, giving an answer of three. Concensus in our group has 5D. 13 is definately c.

same as bob.
nerdd.. sulfuric acid is diprotic.
the more active metal will go into solution.
and it's a buffer. it's A.
hmm~~~ ^^

Yeah 15 is definitely A.
Wouldn't 13 be B? Cos the Z is least reactive cos it didn't replace the X when X was in the Z solution.

the more reactive metal wil go into solution. Z is more reactive so it stays in solution. If it were less reactive than X, X would go into solution and Z metal would form.

15 is D because the buffer will stay at constant pH for a while.
I forgot the diprotic acid - Damn

damn damn damn.
Well it looks like I might get 10-12 out of multiple choice. That really stuffs things up.

can;t be d because the solids are dissolved, filtering will do nothing

hmmm, i don't agree, i think it's a because it will stay fairly constant and then go down, i don't think it would be as sharp as d

15 is D... cuz, the buffer will aborb a small amount of acid before the pH decreases

i thought the MC was harder than previous years... is that the general opinion or is it just me?!

5. u sure? how do you use a filter funnel to find dissolved solids?
13.
z is more reactive than x
z is more reactive than y
x is more reactive than y
therefore... !! i put them the wrong way round, don't mind me, but u can use them to understand the question if you need to
