When copying DNA, mRNA codes T as U am i correct?

Question: During DNA transcription a complementary molecule of mRNA will be produced. Draw the base sequence that would be produced if the base sequence A T T G C T were the template.
Answer : U A A C G A

It should be T U U C G U right? :hammer:

And another question : what is the diff between RNA and mRNA?
one transfers and one copies ?

RNA is any molecule of ribonucleic acid

mRNA is an RNA transcribed from a DNA gene and will be used to make a protein

(mRNAs also have some modifications after transcription as part of 'maturation')

RNA contains uracil instead of thymine so your sequence is correct

When copying DNA, mRNA anti-codes T as U am i correct?

Textbook answer is correct. mRNA will never have a thymine nucleotide. So instead of complementing Adenine with Thymine it complements it with Uracil. Other than that rules are the same.

There are two types of RNA.

mRNA is what does the above process and then travels through the cytoplasm until it reaches and attaches itself to a ribosome. tRNA will bring anti-codons to the ribosome and complements said mRNA until it is satisfied with the polypeptide chain it has formed.

There are two types of RNA.
There's also siRNA, sRNA, miRNA (types of very small RNAs that don't code for anything and sometimes interfere with other RNAs) and also rRNA (makes up the ribosome) and others I can't remember :p

haha. Ooh and dsRNA, double stranded, appears in some viral genomes
