Hi!

What is the difference between molar heat of combustion and heat of combustion?

It seems that when I look online for results for e.g, molar heat of combustion and heat of combustion of ethanol, there are many websites with conflicting values, either giving these values as molar heat of combustion or heat of combustion, with the values being used for either of those terms...

Anyways, its just a bit weird. But for example, the net says that the molar heat of combustion of ethanol is 1360kj/mol^-1

and that heat of combustion is 29.7kj/g

:read:

so is molar heat of combustion what you derive from q=-mcT2-T1?
and heat of combustion is simply q/M ?

Heat of combustion is the energy output value, Q, i.e. kJ
Molar heat of combustion is this value over the number of moles combusted to find the engergy per moles combusted, i.e. kJ/mol

Don't forget that it is completely combusted, not just combusted.
