i'm a little confused. so basically you will not always get the 4th highest external exam mark as your moderated assessment mark if u come 4th, because u said something previously about the differnce between the ranks. i don't really get what you mean by that, can u please explain?

thanks alot

i'll use an example.

internal results
sam- 1st- 90%
bob- 2nd- 80%
eric- 3rd- 40%

external result
sam- 80
bob- 75
eric- 70

so their moderated assessment marks would be(if you are just given the mark for your rank):
sam- 80
bob- 75
eric- 70

this is why they take relative differences between the students into calculations for the assessment mark. the "fariness" isnt there. eric could have got 10% and still got 70 for both hsc and assessment marks. the relative difference are from the internals.

rage had made a good thread on this.

edit: http://www.boredofstudies.org/community/showthread.php?t=6642 this will be much clearer than my late night pre exam night ramblings :)
