Hey. I am also in year 11, doing the industrial separation of mixtures from spheres assessment. I was wondering what would be the best mixture to choose, from the biosphere? My current ones (from the other spheres) are the Haber-Bosch process (ammonia), distillation of salt water, and cyanidation of gold. I really need a good and simple mixture, which I can explain and evaluate, etc. the separation technique of - and soon! If you could help me, I'd be really grateful. So any examples or websites would be much appreciated!

Thankyou (in advanced anticipation to anyone who takes pity on a lost chemistry wanderer).

=D

Haber process -> production of ammonia? how does that relate to mxitures.
cyanidation of gold ? also doesn't sound like mixtures...?

For biosphere try centrifuging of blood i guess.

Haber process does require seperation of the mixture

N2 + 3H2 --> 2NH3

since it is an equilibrium reaction there will be N2, H2 and NH3 present.
By seperating NH3 from that mixture then the reaction will shift to the right according to Le Chatelier's principle :)

I think they cool it down or something since NH3 liquifies first i thinkk iunoo not up to that stuff yet .

anyway yerr isnt that a little bit past the year 11 syllabus? :S
I thought it was in the hsc course *shrugs*

umm seperation of biosphere could be Gel Electrophoresis of DNA??

iuno if that is biosphere or not. your assignment is gee aye why.
