Hello,
I'm hoping to study Medical Science at Sydney University in 2009.

During the HSC I studied Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Information Processing Technology, Standard English, General Maths and Agriculture, so I am wondering because I did not study physics, 2 unit mathematics or chemistry whether I will struggle with the Medical Science course.Could you please give me your opinion on my situation relating to not studying the courses I mentioned earlier, I would really appreciate any help, as choosing the right course is proving to be a very difficult and confusing task.

Heaps of people in Med Sci haven't done physics but I'd say at least half did chemistry and around the same for biology. First year at uni can be pretty much like the HSC subjects if you want it to be.

There are different levels of maths, chem and physics you can choose to do in first year at USyd. Pick the lowest possible level if you are not too confident.

Looks like you have your mind set on MedSc. I hope you will enjoy it - first year can be boring though. Keep in mind that as you progress towards your senior years you get to have more control as to what you want to do (your specialisation).

Well done on finishing your HSC!

As I understand it, most of what you need to know in the medical science area is predominantly statistics. Unless of course you go into the radiology / nuclear medicine area I believe.

You still need to do atleast 12cp of Mathematics i.e. 4 maths subject each of 3cp (2 in each semester). There is only one stat course so u'll also be doing other maths
