i got my marks today and it really sucks (i think)
here it is:
44/60 marks
highest mark is 51/60
class ranking: 4 or 5/22 (same marks as another student in my maths class)
would have gotten much much MUCH higher if i didn't make extremely stupid mistakes (would have gotten 50/60)
would you consider this to be a good mark for now if i improve my marks for the next exams? and how would i improve on NOT making really stupid mistakes in exams? cos i'm really pissed right now about stupid mistakes.

you shouldn't worry too much; your still in the early stages -- prelim!!
as without wings said just practice and you shall see improvement =)
just keep this in mind -- the more you get yourself to practice your maths/or any other subject to that matter, the better prepared you become when you start the HSC program :p

yeh Jimmy's wife is a blood-sucking whore...

Like without wings pointed out you should practice practice practice. Get past prelim papers and do them, they really help.

when bad is good.....

we've got a few of our marks back now, mostly they were bad (very!) but in terms of rank, excellent...

Is 2unit Maths called Advanced? I get so confused... Anyway, I'm doing that.

We have 3 exams in yr 11 (I think), 2 normal common and then one in assessment week in late term 3. Oh, yeah, I think I have my 2nd common Wednesday week...

I got 50-something% for my first common - I'd say the average was way above that (not really surprising considering we have 5 3u classes and 2 2u classes; meanwhile, our general maths class is booming - 8 people up from 4!)

I was told that to do 2U maths you had to be in the advanced course and top of the advanced course to do ext.1.
Many people I know that do 2U were in intermediate - though not many 3U people:p - what has been other people's experiences on this?

Oh yeah, learn the advanced course - if you didn'r already - or revise. My advice and Q are related, so don't flame me.

I got 61% in 2unit, 14/28 in the class Top mark was 95%
I got 38% in 3unit, 6/12 in the class Top mark was 98%

I only failed 3unit due to not knowing how to get soem values, so all my equations were wrong.

One person in my 3unit class only done intermmediate last year, and he is seriously going down.

So does anyone know a damn good way for me to pick up in 3unit?? Ways to remember formulas and proofs and so forth?
