Quick question: how hard is the maths in enginnering at university?

Currently studying year 12 and doing
- General maths (3/100)
- Engineering (1/11).
- Adv English (18/90)
- Pe (10/86)
- IPT (1/21)
- 1 Unit Re (6/184)

Would i be able to tackle the mathematical side of engineering at uni?

Thanks.

i think you will find it difficult because you will not have done any calculus or difficult trigonometry.

however if you work really hard, i'm sure you could pull it off.

instead of taking the first engineering maths course, perhaps think about taking an easier one first to catch up on the stuff you missed in high school (i know you can do this at unsw)

Mathematics gets quite complex, however as an engineer theres no way to avoid it.

since there are enough people filling you with false hope, you might pass the maths courses but the engineering subjects you will fail and fail hard!

Hmmm... thanks for all your replies - sounds like the maths is hard and will be near impossible with no 'real' maths or physics under my belt.

I advise you to do bridging courses.

Look, it will be tough but its not unachievable.

Work very very hard and you will be fine.

Maybe even hire a tutor ?

Engineering maths is fucked up, esp. mechanical shit.

EDIT: I'm a maths major and I failed Mech subjects.

You have virtually no chance unless you work really hard and cover most of the 4unit course.

Lol thanks 09er.

Id say that with a bit of work you will do well with just good marks in 2 unit.
