I picked maths 1131 for my course (mechatronic engineering) but now I'm questioning if I should pick 1141, The reason I didn't pick it was because I haven't done MX2, but I achieved an e4 in MX1 and was curious as to how much I would struggle ( also should mention I love maths). Would love your help

You picked the right thing. An E4 in MX1 doesnt mean too much in MX2, it is MUCH MORE HARDER than u think.
1141 requires you to have a good foundie on MX2, they introduced complex number pretty fast so yeah, just dont worry, its the right choice to pick 1131.

alright, thankyou, I wouldn't be completely lost though, as I did learn about complex numbers but that's the only topic I know. I understand what your saying though. Thanks again!

You will still have to cover stuff that MX2 did, it's just at a lower level though. Since you haven't done complex numbers, yes, it was probably wise to only take MATH1131.

That said, you say you love maths, so if you feel you're able to take the step up and compete - by all means, take MATH1141. If not, take the challenge next sem if you do really well this semester, and take MATH1241.
