We're doing Maos Last Dancer as an other related text too..........and i've seen the film 3 times but still can't find any good techniques...:(

look at:
Li's posturing
High angle shots/low angle shots conveying power
The film has a very meaningful soundtrack - use "non diegetic" music, to convey emotions
Dominant colours in scenes
Juxtaposition between li's home life and life as a dancer
Look at his relationship with the girl as a way to belong (part of rubric = good point to make)
Motifs

avoid:
techniques relating to dialogue, where possible.
