Just discovered a few of these lately after picking up the latest copy of Heat from a friend who has a subscription.
Anyone regularly read any of these? Thoughts? And the all important: anyone submitted any of their work and had it rejected/published? Tell your story! Two of my lecturers have had stuff in Heat/Southerly/Meanjin, but i'm trying to work out whether or not students have a shot at getting anything in there. For some reason I don't think quality of writing is an issue, as they seem to publish some crap from acclaimed writers (in my view anyway
). A referral/name seems to be a bit of a ticket.
