oh, ok
i don't like mac though
is it anything like that?
Yeah MAC to be honest is a great OS.. but too bad it's MACware dependent, and i dont own one to try it out more heh... but it's great it's got it's own unique style, the looks of the hardware the entire UI of the system it's superiorOriginally posted by Huy
Mac is BSD/Unix.
I like Mac (note: Mac users hate it when PC users type MAC, as in MAC address).
It's an iMac, PowerBook, iBook, PowerMac, etc.
I don't own a Mac, but I would love to (since I've played around with some, used a few G3s/G4s, etc).
http://www.apple.com/macosx/technologies/darwin.html
"The stability of Mac OS X begins with Darwin, an Open Source, UNIX-based foundation. Darwin is a complete BSD UNIX implementation, derived from the original 4.4BSD-Lite2 Open Source distribution. Darwin uses a monolithic kernel based on FreeBSD 4.4 and the OSF/mk Mach 3, combining BSDs POSIX support with the fine-grained multithreading and real-time performance of Mach."

MacOS, IMO is the best OS out there. I wish Apple would make a release on hardware other than it's own.
Definately!!!Originally posted by Soliah

Apple's use standard parts for RAM, HDDs, Video cards, Sound cards etc. The only part that is Apple specific is the processor.Originally posted by Winston

ah well but i guess the OS itself was written in itself to suit the hardware they have
i think having just a set number of hardware types really eliminate alot of errors within the OS, as the OS doesn't have to be written to support 250000000000000 types of hdd, or RAM, or motherboards lol
It's really very cool, you've just got to see it in action to appreciate itOriginally posted by Soliah
LoL, a cube rotating. Reminds me of the mad |-|4x0r1|\|9 that occured in Swordfish![]()
I think you are getting confused with Darwin, (which isnt Mac OSX).Originally posted by -X-
Their was (is?) a rumour that Apple are thiking of porting their OS for x86 processors. Would be great if its true.
That must have been before my timeOriginally posted by tactic
wasnt OS/2 by ibm sort of similar to mac?
