is it worth doing a law degree if you dont want to be a solicitor or barrister or is it a waste of time? in other words, is a law degree useful in other applications?

In terms of scope, it's certainly more 'useful' than most professional degrees.

Still though, its pretty limited if you have no intention of doing anything law-related (and you would be punishing yourself to do such a hard degree for no particular purpose).

I'd disagree. As a degree for generic skills, it's awesome. It's basically a lesson in how to research, analyse, and then present information. Having a reasonably good GPA in a law degree is valuable in the workforce.

That being said, most people aren't even aware of how many non-practicing 'lawyers' there are about. Whether they're fully qualified lawyers who work in-house, or recent graduates who work as consultants, they're everywhere.

That being said, in a short time, there will be too many recent graduands with LLBs around, so who knows what kind of job security you're getting.
