does anyone know how important it is to have specific readings of king lear (eg. if i decide to do a feminist reading and an existentialist reading)? i'm a bit confused as to what is expected of us in this topic. at school, our teachers have really been stressing the specific readings, but i've read some exemplar responses from the standards package, and they don't have specific readings at all. so, anyone want to shed some light on this for me?!

i guess in reading other interpretations of king lear etc. it displays your more thorough understanding of the module. In the assessment that I did on king lear- it was a mix of reading and writing, and we were given an excerpt from Del Chessell and needed to use that and another text with our understanding of king lear to write an essay.

I'm not sure if this is really what is required in the HSC exam..?
