hmm, just wondering if anyone kno maybe how i could link 'international convergence' with my China globalisation assignment? i kno wut the term means, just don't kno how i may be able to link it with the case study, besides from the fact of demonstrating MAYBE a slight syncrohisation of the global business cycle.. though i'm not too sure about what i'm saying is rite.. (just came up to me!)
thanx!

Convergence means joining together,becoming one.
International Convergence: The trend of which economic systems converge, as a result of globalisation, to become capitalist market economies.

This trend was most noted when socialist governments of Europe collapsed late last century becoming capitalist.

China is moving from planned, socialist and planned to a capitalist economy byestablishing economic zones within the country and encouraging foreign trade and investment. 'open-door policy'. They also relaxed labour and tax laws to invite FDI. Many state-owned businesses have been privatised. That's how they are moving to a free-market, capitalist, western market (whateva..) economy.

but the gov still owns the infrastructure etc.

I'd becareful with the term 'duel economy'. In a nut shell a duel economy is a phenomenon where urban centres are flooded with workers from the country side, destroying the agricultural sector and creating a urban cesspool.

A "mixed economy" or "command economy" are perhaps a better term.

hmm, from your first point, i guess it's pretty obvious that China isn't experiencing much of that now as the government limits rural/urban migration.. i think i read that somewhere.. heh
