if you could be best friends...

i wouldn't even have to think - i put him up first for a reason and as tempting as Hitler is, i have to say Alexander the Great.

Not only have i studied him in ancient, but my english ext2 major work was based on him.:D

if I had known them then I wouldn't be interested in history would I? There would be nothing for me to learn. And besides, out of that list, there is no one exciting.

I'm going with Hitler, mainly 'cause there's so much propaganda about him over the place, I'm really, really curious to know how much of it is true.

And let's face it - no dictator runs around killing people for the fun of it, if it's using up resources that could be used in keeping him in power....so it'd be interesting to see exactly why he did it, and how that compares to our modern day "he was the reincarnation of satan" explanation.

would you try and get him to change his works?

as Blackadder remarks, it would save school children for hundreds of years...:D

Not change them as such...just try to make them more understandable. Or maybe I'd just be there while he wrote so I would know what he was going on about and there would be no need for changes

Hrmm... So.. If everyone is so interested in Hitler, why not Churchill? Just a point.
Wheres all the others? Jesus, Socrates, A whole bunch of Caesars, Cicero, another whole bunch of British kings, the Tsars.... Writers? James Joyce, Tolstoy, Wilde, Eliot, Conrad, Austen... and on and on.

blah.. Shakespeare is over rated. He's good, but over rated as the essential artist's artist.
