Hello everyone, what's the structure for writing legal studies essays? Or what worked/ is working for you best?
More specifically for introduction?

Hello everyone, what's the structure for writing legal studies essays? Or what worked/ is working for you best?

the questions are often asking you to evaluate the effectiveness of laws or legal mechanisms. you introduce the area of law or topic, noting the relevant legislation/case law, then overview what examples you will be using to argue its effectiveness or lack thereof, usually cases or law reform reports, state your position clearly and how your examples will prove that for your introduction. also make sure you make clear what criteria you are using to evaluate effectiveness - e.g. bail laws might be good at protecting the freedom of the accused and presumption of innocence, but poor at sufficiently protecting the community

body paragraphs are just each example, usually 3-4, e.g. the lindt cafe case where the dude was out on bail for violent offences or something then held up the cafe, if he was on remand, that wouldnt have happened. you analyse the example, how the decision was reached and what things it did well/poorly. the best answers will suggest alternatives and why we don't use other alternatives.

conclusion is just summarising what you developed in your body paragraphs and tying your argument together, shouldnt be anything new added at this point.
