I think there is 15 but I know that there were plenty of countries on the waiting list.......if anyone knows if the number has risen lately could you please post it up.

the next expansion is 2004

but why do you wanna know? you can't seriously be trying to learn that stuff :p

There are at present 15members. Another 10 (i think?) are being added in 2004, and then two more in 2006 ( i think?)...either way, 15 at present with a mention of an expansion to Eastern Europe should be sufficient.

There are 15 countries currently in the EU.

The original 6:
France
Germany (West Germany)
Italy
Belgium
Holland
Luxembourg

The non Euro currency 3:
England
Norway
Denmark

The remaining 6:
Spain
Portugal
Sweeden
Ireland
Austria
Greece

acording to "Economics Update" which is edited by Tim Dixon, from 2004 10 countries will join the EU to make it 25 from the current 15 countries thatt are already there. The 10 countries are:

Poland
Czech Republic
Hungary
Estonia
Latvia
Lithuania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Cyprus
Malta

By adding these countries a total of 75 million people will join the EU population and take the overall total to 450 million, which is well ahead of the 401 million of NAFTA.
