Hey guys, I'm a fairly new poster on this site (lol haven't touched it once since I finished the HSC). I'm a first yr mechatrobnic engineeering student and was curious to see how these to grading systems work. They sparked my curiousity when one of my colleagues told me that your employability is directly proprotional to your grades in theese 2 systems. If any of you could inform me as to how these systems work then that's be great! :)

AFAIK,

after 1st year = marks of 1st year subjects/subjects studied
after 2nd year = (marks of 2nd year subs x 2 + marks of first year subs)/ (2nd year subjects x 2 + 1st year subjects)
and so on

It depends on the uni and faculty. Some unis weight things differently. AFAIK, at USyd, WAM is just your average mark, except if you're in science, in which case its weighted according to level. There are also at least 3 systems for GPA
