So I've been getting overall rankings from each teacher, and was just wondering how they calculate your overall marks

I was thinking of multiplying the percentage of what you got in the assessment, by the percentage weighting - then adding each "pair" so to speak.

e.g. you have 4 assessments:
Weightings:
1/15%
2/25%
3/25%
4/35%

Your marks in the test
1/90%
2/95%
3/80%
4/85%

is it: (15%*90%) + (25%*95%) etc etc?

It depends on the department.

E.g.
Maths: does scaling formula with deviations and averages, then weighs
Economics: raw % weighed.

They have no set raw mark system so they can do whatever they please.

[.15*.90+.25*.95+.25*.80+.35*.85]=0.<percentage>

My school does it the way specified in your post, but it can vary by faculty, by school and some will adjust the raw marks before sending them in.
